HAPPY 4th of July from Traylor's Scottish Terriers and Chihuahuas!
We are Mike and Donna Traylor, of Chiscots Kennels, formerly Traylorbrooks.Kennels a small hobby Scottish Terrier kennel in North Alabama. Donna is the original Scottie lover of the Traylor group, although Mike came to love this breed too, after Donna introduced him to these wonderful terriers.  In turn, Mike taught Donna to love the Chihuahua, as they had been a part of his family since he was a young child. His aunt had a chihuahua, and he fondly remembers how the dog loved to sleep under quilts and cover.
Big changes have taken place in the Traylor's life in the last few years.  It was always their dream to move to the country where their dogs would have more than a neighborhood back yard for play.  Now, they have realized this dream, and their dogs have their own heated and air conditioned  building, as well as a nice area to run under the big trees.  When there is a new mom, she and the pups stay in the house with the family so they can get close attention.  Of course, the others come in from time to time to lay around on the sofa and play with our four grandchildren, Rylee, Braiden, Ragen, and  Maddie.  Some of the older dogs are now spayed and are full time couch potatoes.  They even get along with Fluffy, the new family cat.
Chiscots is a small kennel, devoted to selling AKC dogs who represent the standard in confirmation.  Our dogs all have good temperament, and are family pets first, breeders second.  We enjoy placing pups with families.  Only in very rare cases do we sell a dog with breeding rights.  The  rare  exception would be to a show home or someone we felt had the same philosophy as we do about working to better the breed, yet keeping the dog as a family member.  We are always eager to answer your questions, and expect the same from you, as we want to know the people our dogs will own.  We also check references, and we ask for your vet's name as well as two close contacts (one being a neighbor).
We work closely with our vet, and we have a groomer close by who does a beautiful job of grooming our Scotties.  When you get a dog from us, it will come with a health guarantee, and we will be available to you if you have  questions, for the life of the dog. We love getting Christmas cards from Scottie friends from all over the US and Canada, most from folk who have bought a Scottie from us.
We have black, brindle, and wheaten Scotties.  We have one male who is pointed and needs one major. We have decided not to finish him, due to health reasons( Donna's MS), hopefully, we may or may not have one of our own pups in the ring soon. Why you ask do you not show? The reason is: Donna's poor health. MS hits when you least expect it to. Donna had thought she would get better the entire 2007 year, but never reached the plateau that let her go to dog shows on a regular basis.  We do not breed our dogs all the time. We are waiting on a litter of pups to see if they are show quality. We are a very small scale breeder. Some of our dogs here at our kennels are geriatric dogs. They will be here until they go to Rainbow Bridge .  We lost Maria, our dear chihuahua this year, and Be this year. We missed Maria so much this Christmas! When the decorations came down, we saw her reindeer ears, and it was sad. My grand daughter said " Granny, Do not be sad, Maria is with Jesus , and she is having a good time this Christmas". Gracie. We lost our cat, Fluffy, 2 yrs ago. She was 17 yrs of age. She was raised with Donna's now grown children,  and was truly  a part of the famliy. .We have acquired 2 really nice females and a  new stud ( Lucky)and hope to have their pups in the summer of 2009.
We do not believe in breeding each time a dog is in season.  We have pups from time to time--but not all the time.  We do maintain a waiting list.
We are quite proud of our Chihuahuas.  We have both long and smooth coat, and we have both pet and show quality.  If you are interested in learning about upcoming show prospects, feel free to ask.( we can get you in touch with show breeder asap if we can not help you)  Of course, we get just as excited about finding the perfect family for a pet.
We have individual pages to tell you more about our Scotties and Chihuahuas.  And, being proud grandparents, we even have a page to show off the grandchildren!  We hope you enjoy your visit on these pages. Please note this kennel is owned by John " Mike" Traylor
Your questions and comments are welcome.  We can be reached by phone at 256-778-7423 or 256-227-1970.  Or you can email donna at chiscots@aol.com . We have had to litters of Scottish Terriers in 2.5 plus years. We have had  about the same for Chihuahuas in two yrs. We are very proud members of the DAKC Kennel Club! We are very proud of our puppies and love them. Each pup is placed with AKC registration papers, a starter kit, health guarantee. We will be here for you anytime you need to talk about your pup, as long as your dog lives. Welcome to our kennel home. We are glad you stopped by to visit. Please enjoy your visit and we look forward to hearing from you!  test
